All right, now that that's out of the way...

When I was four, I wanted to be a rock star, a movie star, and a writer. And possibly a marine biologist in my spare time. I gave up on the rock star thing fairly early on, because it involved a lot of sweating, and, let's face it, there was no way in hell I was going to leap off pyrotechnic platforms with a cello clutched overhead. The movie star thing bit the dust in high school after a fateful professional audition in which I blanked on my monologue and made up crap off the top of my head. I was not cast in the production but the director loved my writing. Or my blatant lying, such as the case may be. My path became clear.

However, I still pursue marine biology in my spare time. You got a burning question about blue whales? Ask me. Puzzled about the Portugese Man'o'War? I'll tell you now, it's not a jellyfish. Sea cucumbers? They're related to sea stars, not pickles.

In writing, I still get to pursue just about everything that interests me. Except this time, it's on the page, and not on stage, where I'd be cursing my faulty memory and/or unwieldy stringed instrument.
